Good looking resume

Editing the Resume

A prospective employer will spend less than 30 seconds reviewing your resume.
• Ask yourself a couple of questions after you have prepared your resume.
o Have I communicated to an employer that I could fill a need?
o Do my strengths come across in the resume?
o Have I cited examples of my leadership, initiative, creativity, or problem-solving skills?
o Would an employer think the resume was too wordy?
o Have I presented it in a clear, concise, and focused manner?
• Always check for correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Read it aloud slowly. Don't rely on spell check to catch all the errors.
• Ask several friends, family, and trusted co-workers to review it, not only for grammar and spelling, but also for content. They may be able to remind you of accomplishments or skills you may have overlooked.
• Remember to use action verbs and avoid "I, my duties or responsible for"?
• Do not abbreviate words or use acronyms that might not be understood by everyone reading the resume? (Example: If you use the abbreviation RPC state that it means Remote Procedures Call)
• Qualities that will set your resume apart from others are:
o a sense of confidence and sense of purpose is conveyed
o clear and concise language has been used
o page layout is clear and inviting to read

• List the following information:
o Manager's Name
o Manager's Title
o (Area Code) Telephone Number
o E-mail Address

Finalizing the Resume

You want to finalze yours CV

Resumes should be concise and in a manageable document length.

Your Name and Page Number should be located on every page, just in case pages become separated while in the hands of the prospective employer.(The Name and Page number can be in the Header or Footer part of the resume, or at the top of the page using a smaller font size, to avoid distracting the reader. Page Numbers can be written as: Page 2, Page Two, Page 2 of 3, or Page Two of Three.)

Do not put a photograph of yourself on the resume. Potential employers will not be hiring you based on your looks! However, International candidates will need to send their scanned photograph to the Systems Integration Solutions, Inc. International Department representative along with the final formatted resume.

Type your resume in a word processing document and back it up on a disk. Updating your resume then becomes easy. If you are not a typist, ask a professional to type it.
Use one typeface such as Times New Roman, Arial, or other traditional typeface. The standard font size is 11 point. Headers may be increased to 12 point.
Margins should be no less than one inch on sides, top, and bottom. The white space serves as a border and keeps the resume from looking cluttered.
Avoid underlining within the resume narrative. If you have written the statements well, they will need no further emphasis.

Always do a print preview of each page of your resume, to view the layout and spacing.
E-mail your resume document, with a short introduction letter to your Systems Integration Solutions, Inc. contact. The document can then be opened, printed, and distributed to clients.
Laser-print your completed resume or have it professionally typeset.
Give or mail an interviewer your resume printed on an off-white, tan, or light gray quality bond paper. Never give them a photocopy of your resume.

Writing Employment History - an Impact Statement

  • It is in the Employment History Section of the resume where you need to describe the jobs you have worked on for the past fifteen years. For each job you have held, you will briefly describe Company Business, the Project and your Role. The sentences that follow should emphasize your responsibilities, what you did, for your employer. The first sentence is called the impact statement, because it should make an impact on how a potential employer will view your resume.
The impact statement is your strongest result or accomplishment. When an employer scans your resume quickly, the first statement is the one that is read most often.
This statement can be something you alone achieved or you achieved working on a team.
The impact statement and other responsibility sentences should begin with an Action or Skill verb. (Use the Action or Skill Verbs page to select the best action word(s) to describe what you did)
Use the following questions to assist you in writing the impact statement:
    What did you do?
    Over what period of time?
What impact did your accomplishment have on the department, company, city, state, etc?
How did you or your result
    - increase performance?
    - add to profits?
    - save time?
    - increase knowledge?
    - decrease errors?
    - save money?

Impact Statement Samples:

Designed, developed and implemented a new payroll system, affecting 2200 employees. Payroll is processed now in two days instead of three, accuracy is up 2%, with a savings of $38,000 a year.

Introduced technology that reduced accounting's time requirements for month-end close of books from seven days to two days. This process was subsequently adopted by the company's three satellite offices.

Re-designed a management inventory software program that eliminated three days of costly and time-consuming inventory counts done monthly.

Within two weeks after being hired, resolved chronic computer crashes that had plagued the company for over a year. Traced the problem to vendor software.

All the best!!

Resume Preparation Techniques

Applying for a job is like trying to sell yourself:

your goal is to get the employer to the point where they have to have you in their company. So how do you do that?
By having the right resume outline for the job you want. You have several different resume outlines to choose from, so you will have to consider the following.

Chronological Resume:

This resume outline helps showcase your employment history in an organized manner. You will begin with your most recent job experience and work your way back. This type of resume is easy to write, and is probably the most common resume format. In fact 84% of recruiters prefer this type of resume outline to any other. So if you are in doubt of which resume outline to use, stick with the chronological resume. If you have a spotty employment history, or lack any real-life experience though this may not be the best resume type for you. It could end up highlighting your lack of job experience.

Functional Resume

This resume outline helps highlight the fact that you are on a career path. You will create this type of resume by dividing your information into two different sections. The first section will list the skills and experiences that you have, while the second lists the places that you worked. This type of resume is best if you have a time gap in your resume, or have worked at several different types of companies. The goal of this type of resume outline is to show that even though you have done a little bit of everything you were working towards an end goal. Use a functional resume outline if you want to highlight your skills at each job, instead of the job title or position itself.

Curriculum Vitae

This resume outline is a specialty outline that is best for education and research fields. Typically a Curriculum Vita (CV) is more through than a regular resume and lists every achievement that you have had, including published papers and presentations. A typical CV could be as long as 30 pages or more! It is not recommended that you send one to a potential employer, unless it is specifically asked for in the job posting. If they like you, they may ask for one at a later date.

Candidate Profile

This resume outline isn't actually a resume at all! Some companies are doing away with tradition resumes in favor of a technologically advanced alternative. They ask job candidates to fill out a candidate profile online highlighting skills, beliefs, and talents. This type of resume outline is particularly useful if employers have to wade through thousands of candidates quickly.br>

Final Thoughts

Companies don't hire only one type of resume outline, they hire people. So do your best to put your best foot forward in the interview process, and then knock them out at the interview.

All The Best!!

How to Hack Of Passwords?

Password hacks can be performed in several ways. The most common used tool is social engineering. Social engineering consists in making a user believe that he is giving confidential information to a trusted party. For example, a cracker could pose as a system administrator from another country and ask for some personal information that could be considered irrelevant by the user. It's quite probable that that information was the last piece of the puzzle required by the cracker for acquiring the password of the user.

Another way of hacking passwords is through a hash function. A hash function is a program that transforms a determined password into a fixed length string. For example, if you have the password foxtrot1256, the hash function will transform it into a key, something like DG65HKSDLK43545SSDFEE232AQQQ10. Some programs use determined artifices for finding the password hidden inside the key.

Since computing power increased, the brute force attack became another choice for cracking passwords. How does it work? Well, it basically tests different kinds of character combinations until it finds the correct one. The problem with this method is that if the password is too long, then the brute force attack won't prosper, at least during a reasonable spam of time. In this kind of situations, it is better to use social engineering to find out the password.

Your valuable feedback will be highly appreciated.

Are You Sure Your Password is Safe?

Since the appearance of computers and the necessity of storing confidential information, passwords became part of our lives. But password hacking programs also appeared; as a ready to offer a solution for those hackers who were stopped by this barrier. At first, these programs were distributed between certain underground hacker groups.
But when the internet appeared, anyone could find programs for password hacking; passwords hackers popularized few softwares and soon it became mainstream among the computer community. Any user can insert the keywords 'how to hack a password' in any search engines and he will find tons of information that can help him.
Passwords and How to Obtain Them
A password is a combination of characters that a user uses for protecting information. Once a file or a determined section of a hard disk is protected by a password, only those that know it can access it. Although passwords have existed for thousands of years, they have adapted perfectly to the computer era.

If you consider how much money you can make for knowing the correct combination of characters of a determined portal, then it is no wonder that password hackers proliferated.

How to hack a website?

Hacking Websites: Entertainment or Fun or Terrorism?

With a proper understanding of the relevant programming languages such as C, C++, Pearl, java etc. one can be fully equipped with the technique of hacking into website. There backdoors for the web hackers for website hacking. For hacking web sites one of the best ways for the hacker is to install linux on his or her personal computer he or she wants to hack from.
Then he can open up a shell to type: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda1 and press ENTER. As the next step he will type: dd hf= (url). There are a few other alternatives for hacking sites as well. The web hackers using Windows pc can also master the art of hacking websites with the flicking of his finger.

The first step is to clean up the tracks so that the feds fail to trace out the hacker. This happens automatically in case of linux. Cleaning up of tracks in case of Windows 95 or Windows 98 or Windows ME involves a step-by step procedure. Click Start then Run and then Command. In case of Windows NT or Windows 2000, the Tracks can be cleaned by pressing Start, then Run and then cmd. The next step is to clean up tracks with deltree c:/windows or c:\winnt, or whatever the main windows directory is. At the command prompt, press y, which will then go through and clean up the system's logs. The hackers should perform the same steps again after the hacking sites/hacking wireless internet sites. Then after this cleaning up the hackers should type: ping -l4000

Know About Barack Hussein Obama

Biography of OBAMA

Barack Hussein Obama was born Aug. 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father, Barack Obama, Sr., was born of Luo ethnicity in Nyanza Province, Kenya. He grew up herding goats with his own father, who was a domestic servant to the British. Although reared among Muslims, Obama, Sr., became an atheist at some point.
Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham, grew up in Wichita, Kansas. Her father worked on oil rigs during the Depression. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, he signed up for service in World War II and marched across Europe in Patton’s army. Dunham’s mother went to work on a bomber assembly line. After the war, they studied on the G. I. Bill, bought a house through the Federal Housing Program, and moved to Hawaii.
Meantime, Barack’s father had won a scholarship that allowed him to leave Kenya pursue his dreams in Hawaii. At the time of his birth, Obama’s parents were students at the East–West Center of the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Obama’s parents separated when he was two years old and later divorced. Obama’s father went to Harvard to pursue Ph. D. studies and then returned to Kenya.
His mother married Lolo Soetoro, another East–West Center student from Indonesia. In 1967, the family moved to Jakarta, where Obama’s half-sister Maya Soetoro–Ng was born. Obama attended schools in Jakarta, where classes were taught in the Indonesian language.
Four years later when Barack (commonly known throughout his early years as "Barry") was ten, he returned to Hawaii to live with his maternal grandparents, Madelyn and Stanley Dunham, and later his mother (who died of ovarian cancer in 1995).
He was enrolled in the fifth grade at the esteemed Punahou Academy, graduating with honors in 1979. He was only one of three black students at the school. This is where Obama first became conscious of racism and what it meant to be an African–American.
In his memoir, Obama described how he struggled to reconcile social perceptions of his multiracial heritage. He saw his biological father (who died in a 1982 car accident) only once (in 1971) after his parents divorced. And he admitted using alcohol, marijuana and cocaine during his teenage years.
After high school, Obama studied at Occidental College in Los Angeles for two years. He then transferred to Columbia University in New York, graduating in 1983 with a degree in political science.
After working at Business International Corporation (a company that provided international business information to corporate clients) and NYPIRG, Obama moved to Chicago in 1985. There, he worked as a community organizer with low-income residents in Chicago’s Roseland community and the Altgeld Gardens public housing development on the city’s South Side.

It was during this time that Obama, who said he "was not raised in a religious household," joined the Trinity United Church of Christ. He also visited relatives in Kenya, which included an emotional visit to the graves of his father and paternal grandfather.
Obama entered Harvard Law School in 1988. In February 1990, he was elected the first African–American editor of the Harvard Law Review. Obama graduated magna cum laude in 1991.
After law school, Obama returned to Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer, joining the firm of Miner, Barnhill & Galland. He also taught at the University of Chicago Law School. And he helped organize voter registration drives during Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign.
Obama published an autobiography in 1995 Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance. And he won a Grammy for the audio version of the book.
Obama’s advocacy work led him to run for the Illinois State Senate as a Democrat. He was elected in 1996 from the south side neighborhood of Hyde Park.
During these years, Obama worked with both Democrats and Republicans in drafting legislation on ethics, expanded health care services and early childhood education programs for the poor. He also created a state earned-income tax credit for the working poor. And after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.
In 2000, Obama made an unsuccessful Democratic primary run for the U. S. House of Representatives seat held by four-term incumbent candidate Bobby Rush.
Following the 9/11 attacks, Obama was an early opponent of President George W. Bush’s push to war with Iraq. Obama was still a state senator when he spoke against a resolution authorizing the use of force against Iraq during a rally at Chicago’s Federal Plaza in October 2002.
"I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars," he said. "What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other arm-chair, weekend warriors in this Administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne."
"He's a bad guy," Obama said, referring to Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. "The world, and the Iraqi people, would be better off without him. But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history."
"I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a U. S. occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences," Obama continued. "I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda."
The war with Iraq began in 2003 and Obama decided to run for the U.S. Senate open seat vacated by Republican Peter Fitzgerald. In the 2004 Democratic primary, he won 52 percent of the vote, defeating multimillionaire businessman Blair Hull and Illinois Comptroller Daniel Hynes.
That summer, he was invited to deliver the keynote speech in support of John Kerry at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston. Obama emphasized the importance of unity, and made veiled jabs at the Bush administration and the diversionary use of wedge issues.
"We worship an awesome God in the blue states, and we don't like federal agents poking around our libraries in the red states," he said. "We coach Little League in the blue states, and yes, we've got some gay friends in the red states. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq, and there are patriots who supported the war in Iraq. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the Stars and Stripes, all of us defending the United States of America."
After the convention, Obama returned to his U.S. Senate bid in Illinois. His opponent in the general election was suppose to be Republican primary winner Jack Ryan, a wealthy former investment banker. However, Ryan withdrew from the race in June 2004, following public disclosure of unsubstantiated sexual allegations by Ryan's ex wife, actress Jeri Ryan.
In August 2004, diplomat and former presidential candidate Alan Keyes, who was also an African American, accepted the Republican nomination to replace Ryan. In three televised debates, Obama and Keyes expressed opposing views on stem cell research, abortion, gun control, school vouchers and tax cuts.
In the November 2004 general election, Obama received 70% of the vote to Keyes's 27%, the largest electoral victory in Illinois history. Obama became only the third African American elected to the U.S. Senate since Reconstruction.
Sworn into office January 4, 2005, Obama partnered with Republican Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana on a bill that expanded efforts to destroy weapons of mass destruction in Eastern Europe and Russia. Then with Republican Sen. Tom Corburn of Oklahoma, he created a website that tracks all federal spending.
Obama was also the first to raise the threat of avian flu on the Senate floor, spoke out for victims of Hurricane Katrina, pushed for alternative energy development and championed improved veterans´ benefits. He also worked with Democrat Russ Feingold of Wisconsin to eliminate gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress.
His second book, The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream, was published in October 2006.
In February 2007, Obama made headlines when he announced his candidacy for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. He was locked in a tight battle with former first lady and current U.S. Senator from New York, Hillary Rodham Clinton until he became the presumptive nominee on June 3, 2008.
Obama met his wife, Michelle, in 1988 when he was a summer associate at the Chicago law firm of Sidley & Austin. They were married in October 1992 and live in Kenwood on Chicago's South Side with their daughters, Malia (born 1998) and Sasha (born 2001).

Pros & Cons of Becoming An Angel (Nurse)

The truth is that if you are considering a career in the nursing field, this should be a decision based on conscious consideration of a variety of factors. First, you should know that nursing is not for everyone. You must be prepared to work hard. Nursing is both physically and emotionally challenging and draining. Actually, with the exception of a few areas, nurses provide care to those in need, almost around the clock 24 hours 7 days a week. Dividing their schedules into shifts of 8 or 12 hours, nurses work long hours standing, including nights, weekends and holidays. Nursing is a profession focused on assisting the people in need of special type of treatments. The main goal of a successful nursing service is for the patient to attain and maintain an optimum level of health, while increasing his or her ability to function as independently as possible. In many cultures, nursing is considered to be something between a hard profession and a meaningful cause. Focusing on promoting life and improving the quality of living for million of people around the globe, nursing has evolved from the special care and treatment nuns and military services offered, to a high-quality personalized service in a variety of institutions. Nurses can be considered as the contemporary community support agents since they are an essential part of every society, conducting health education, counseling and performing practices that aim to relieve patients from pain and suffering. In short, since nursing involves altruistic behavior, is a profession that requires the interesting nursing candidate to dedicate time, personal effort and most of all, determination in caring for people's well-being. In almost all countries, nursing practice is defined and governed by law, while for a interested individual to enter the profession, he or she has to successfully complete the necessary education which is regulated by national, state, or territorial boards of nursing. But, apart from the academic background one has to build, those interested in developing a nursing career, have to understand that they might be missing family events, and sometimes have to work late hours. In some fields nurses have to be on-call twenty-four hours a day. Not surprisingly, nurses have to deal with unhappy patients and be able to handle the demands of concerned family members. This can be easily understood, if you can remember which were the feeling you had the last time you had to stay in bed, even for a simple cold. Unhappy feelings and low self-esteem do not create a very promising environment for anyone to want to enter. As nursing is the most diverse of all healthcare professions, nurses have to deal with blood, sputum, feces, urine, vomiting, and ugly smelly wounds. But nursing is a universally role appearing in some form in every culture and it is one of the few professions that focus on helping others in a time of need. Actually nursing is all about taking care of people and this is the main concentration during a typical day's work. As practitioners themselves have stated, "Nursing is about combining the art of caring with the science and technology of today's health care practices."

GATE TIPS

GATE EXAM SEEKER’S TIPS

Hi all,

Beware of your co-exam seekers, some of those have already imposition criteria. You may have the chance to loose your marks. The better 4 tips here I can explain, I think these are helpful for all kinds of exam seekers.

1) If you are preparation is strong enough to score high percentile. Just answer the questions which you have good knowledge. Don’t attempt questions in which you are not well perfect.

2) If you are not well go through the syllabus. Just Darken the circles which you have an idea that may be right choice. Leave blank remaining

3) If you are not at all prepared. And you have a strong basic knowledge, then try to solve with in the given time. Guess answers and darken circles, because you have already knowledge in the subject.

4) If you don’t have the knowledge at all. You know nothing, and then please avoid attempting questions. Because they have increased negative marks percentage. So that it has the chance to get negative percentile. That’s the reason leave all columns blank. If you attempt your score will go in the negative side. Because so many people don’t know this. They will attempt in as usual manner. If you are not at all answer single questions, no need to worry. Definitely you will get more marks. No doubt about it. I’m sure. Reason is that pattern has been changed in this year.

ALL THE BEST!!

How is the CPA Exam Scored?
Introduction
This document is intended to provide a non-technical overview of the CPA Examination scoring process. It begins with a high-level overview of the Exam and how it is scored. Following the overview are a series of questions and answers that provide more detail about specific aspects of the scoring process. The purpose of this format is to provide a general understanding of the scoring process and offer a more in-depth explanation of specific aspects of the scoring process to readers.
The information included in this document is based on questions frequently asked by state board representatives and other stakeholders. We recognize that this document will not answer all questions about the scoring of the CPA Exam and that new questions will likely arise as this document is read and discussed. We welcome additional questions and anticipate updating the document periodically based on the feedback we receive.
Description of the CPA Examination
The CPA Examination is comprised of four sections: Auditing and Attestation (AUD), Business Environment and Concepts (BEC), Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR), and Regulation (REG). All four sections contain multiple-choice questions. AUD, FAR, and REG sections also contain simulations.
The multiple-choice questions within each test section are administered to candidates in three groups (called “testlets”). Each testlet contains “operational” and “pretest” questions. The operational questions are the ones used to generate the candidates’ scores. Pretest questions are not scored; instead, candidates’ responses to these questions are used to evaluate the questions’ psychometric performance. Pretest questions that are psychometrically acceptable become operational questions on future exams. This strategy for pretesting questions is common in the credentialing field.
The AUD, FAR, and REG multiple-choice testlets vary in difficulty—there are two levels that are labeled “medium difficult” and “difficult.” These are simply labels. Within the testlets, items often vary substantially in their difficulty levels, but across testlets, those labeled “difficult” contain more hard questions than testlets labeled “medium difficult.” Every candidate receives a medium difficult testlet first. Candidates who do well on the first testlet receive a difficult second testlet. Otherwise, they receive a second medium difficult testlet. The scoring procedures take the difficulty of the testlet into account so that candidates are scored fairly regardless of the difficulty of the testlets they take.
The AUD, FAR, and REG sections contain two additional testlets containing simulations. Simulations are complex case studies that allow candidates to demonstrate their
2
knowledge and skills by generating responses to questions rather than simply selecting a correct answer. Simulations require candidates to use spreadsheets, conduct research, and generate written communications. Each simulation requires numerous responses from candidates (up to several dozen in some cases).
Before appearing on the CPA Examination, both operational and pretest questions have passed through several extensive and rigorous subject matter reviews to ensure that they are technically correct, have a single best or correct answer, are current, and measure entry level content as specified in the Content Specification Outlines (CSOs). The CSOs specify the percentage of each section that should be devoted to each content area. The current CSOs were adopted in 2002 based on the results of a practice analysis and state board responses to an exposure draft of the recommended CSOs; CSO references were updated in 2005. Operational questions have also been statistically evaluated to ensure they meet the psychometric requirements of the CPA Exam.

WHY DO YOU NEED A CPA LICENSE?

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licenses are issued by all states to protect the residents of those states. The licensing process is designed to ensure the competence of the licensees. As an accountant, you cannot legally claim or use the CPA title unless you hold a valid CPA license issued by your state. In some states, you may also be restricted from offering certain public services (such as auditing). A CPA certificate is a valuable addition to your resume in many fields. When you apply for a position, or are being considered for a raise or promotion, a CPA certificate from any of the states is tangible evidence that makes your resume stand out above others.

REQUIREMENTS TO TAKE THE EXAMINATION To take the examination to become licensed as a certified public accountant, you must meet your state's requirements for education, experience, and knowledge. Most states now require 150 semester hours of university education. If you are now in school, some states allow you to sit for the examination during the last term before your graduation. You can provide evidence of the necessary experience later. For the specific requirements of your state, refer to APPLYING TO TAKE THE EXAM

RECIPROCITY AMONG STATES

Reciprocity is the granting of a CPA license by one state based on your CPA license from another state.Because they use the Uniform CPA Examination, most states recognize the validity of licenses from other states. Requirements for experience and education vary, but states generally allow you to claim credit for successful completion of the examination in another state. Check the requirements of a state board for the specific rules that apply to you.

THE CPA EXAMINATION ITSELF

To become a certified public accountant, you must pass all four parts of the Uniform CPA Examination. Each state administers the examination and reports scores to its candidates. However, the examination is made up and graded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
EXAMINATION DATES:The exam is offered up to six days a week during January, February, April, May, July, August, October and November each year. Each two month testing period is called a window. Candidates make appointments for specific dates and times during a window at a regional testing center. After the state board determines a candidate is eligible to sit for specific sections of the CPA Examination, the candidate will receive a Notice to Schedule (NTS). The candidate can then register directly with a Prometric testing center to take one or more sections. Candidates can schedule test appointments online at www.prometric.com\cpa, or by calling 1-800-580-9648 (Candidate Services Call Center) or contacting their local test center.

EXAMINATION STRUCTURE

The four parts of the examination are:
Auditing & Attestation
Financial Accounting & Reporting (business enterprises, not-for-profit organizations, and governmental entities)
Regulation (professional responsibilities, business law, and taxation)
Business Environment & Concepts
The examination takes two days. Each of the four parts of the examination is graded on a scale of 0 to 100. The minimum passinng score is 75.
QUESTION FORMAT BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT is 100% multiple choice.AUDITING includes multiple choice questions and simulations.REGULATION includes multiple choice questions and simulations.FAR includes multiple choice questions and simulations. If you aren’t familiar with the FASB and AICPA electronic professional literature that is used for research in the AUD, FAR, and REG exam sections, a six-month free subscription is available to exam candidates that have been given exam eligibility by a state board. These are the databases actually used for research in the FAR and AUD exam simulations. The tax research interface is the same, but the tax database is not available at a reduced price to exam candidates. Click here to order a subscription. Some simulations on each exam section (other than BEC, which is 100% multiple choice) are graded for writing skills in addition to being graded for technical content. Writing skills are evaluated for organization, conciseness, clarity, use of standard English, responsiveness to the question's requirements, and appropriateness for the reader. The CPA exam is a closed book, secured examination. Candidates are required to sign a statement that they will not disclose the contents of the examination.

American Financial situation

bolded the things that certainly would have caught other's eye; I bet they're examples of a much larger body of unrelated legislation pushed through in a time of crisis. Regardless of how I feel about the addenda, after I heard Klein speak on the shock doctrine (Hay 08), I see these tactics everywhere.NYT:--$150 billion in tax breaks for individuals and businesses--a temporary increase in the amount of bank deposits covered by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, to $250,000 from $100,000.--the entire package was attached to legislation requiring insurers to treat mental health conditions more like general health problems--A coalition of centrist Democrats ... refused to back the tax benefits unless they were deficit neutral — offset by tax increases or spending cuts elsewhere. The bill now includes the Senate version of the tax plan, which adds most of the cost to the deficit over the next decade.--increased protection for deposits at the neighborhood bank--income tax relief for middle-class taxpayers--aid for schools in rural areas where the federal government owns much of the land--The approximately $150 billion in new tax breaks, which offer incentives for the use of renewable energy and relieve 24 million households from an estimated $65 billion alternative-minimum tax scheduled to take effect this year, would be offset by only about $40 billion in spending cuts or tax increases elsewhere.--Moreover, the increase in federal deposit insurance will not be financed over the short term, as the insurance program now is, by assessing premiums on banks that benefit. Instead, banks will get an open-ended line of credit directly to the Treasury Department. But the Congressional Budget Office noted that federal law requires the banks to eventually make up any shortfall and any loans to be repaid, though not until at least 2010.--The initial proposal from the Treasury Department ran just three pages; the latest version exceeds 450.--...changes, including additional oversight, steps to limit home foreclosures and restrictions on the compensation of --negotiators decided to parcel out the $700 billion in installments, starting with a first tranche of $350 billion. And during a weekend of negotiations, they added as a final backstop a requirement that in five years the president must present Congress with a plan to make up any losses of tax funds by looking to the financial community to make up the difference. NBR:--It includes tax breaks for businesses and alternative energy and higher government insurance for bank deposits.--increases the amount of money the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation can borrow from the Treasury to $US100 billion from $US30 billion.--A cap has also been removed, authorising the FDIC to request from the Treasury "a loan or loans in an amount or amounts necessary…without regard to limitations." The unlimited borrowing authority will last until the end of next year--The legislation also increases the government deposit-insurance ceiling for banks and credit unions to $US250,000 from $US100,000 for most depositors. This means the FDIC will be responsible for insuring a lot more money if more banks fail, which could put extreme pressure on its already low deposit-insurance fund.

10 Important Facts of Blog Promotion

10 Important Facts of Blog Promotion
Almost every blogger aims to grow their blog and reach a larger audience. Unfortunately, most new bloggers don’t know much about promoting a blog when they are just getting started. The good news is you will learn pretty quickly if you are consistently involved and working at promoting your blog. Here are ten things that I have learned to be true from my experience.
1. Building Significant Search Engine Traffic Will Take Time
New blogs generally take several months, at least, before they gain enough trust from search engines to produce any type of significant flow of traffic. If you are planning to focus on search engines as your primary source of traffic, you would be well advised to also focus on some other sources of traffic, especially in the early months.
Building a blog that is search engine-friendly is critical if you want to maximize search traffic, so take care of that from the start and focus on creating great content that others will talk about and link to.
2. Not All Traffic Is Equal
No two sources of traffic are quite the same. I get a good percentage of the traffic at my blog through social media, and I can attest to the fact that social media traffic is generally less responsive and less likely to stick around than visitors from most other sources. Focusing on stats without looking at the true results can cause a bit of an illusion. Sure, visitors are great, but are they leaving after being on the blog for 30 seconds and never returning?
Search engine traffic is highly sought after because these visitors are actively looking for what you have to offer. But other types of traffic have strong points too. Visitors who are referred from another blog will generally be more responsive since they have been recommended by someone they trust. Every source of traffic has pros and cons, so try to take these things into consideration when you are promoting your blog and analyzing the results.
3. Consistent Posting Is Key
Most bloggers need to keep publishing new posts in order to keep traffic at a certain level. Some bloggers are able to generate large amounts of search engine traffic to older posts to the point that traffic will be fairly sustained without new posts, but this is pretty rare. New posts keep subscribers coming back, they keep social media votes coming, and they keep adding new pages to search engine indexes.
Posting consistently doesn’t mean that you have to post every day, it simply means that you need to publish content on a regular basis, whatever that may be. Almost every blog that successfully draws traffic is publishing new posts with some consistency.
4. Consistent Traffic Is Almost Impossible
Although posting needs to be consistent to keep traffic levels up, that doesn’t mean that it will keep traffic levels consistent. Every blog has ups and downs and two days are rarely the same. This is a natural occurrence and it should be embraced or else it can become very frustrating. Make sure that you enjoy the times when traffic is high, and keep on plugging away to get through the slower times. Blogging would almost be boring is traffic levels didn’t fluctuate like they do.
5. Repeat Visitors Should Be the Goal
Yes, it’s great to see an impressive number of unique visitors arriving at your blog, but how many of them will be back? Repeat visitors are the lifeblood of blogs. Subscribers, of course, are most likely to keep coming back, so focusing on subscribers is typically a good thing.
Repeat visitors will not only help to improve your overall traffic flow and stats, more importantly they will be your most responsive visitors in terms of comments, social media votes, sales, and just about anything else. As they keep coming back and reading your blog, you will be earning more of their trust and your network will grow.
6. Links Help In Several Ways
Building inbound links is a priority for most bloggers, and for good reason. They drive click-through traffic from other blogs, they increase your exposure around the blogosphere, and they help to boost your search engine rankings. Link building is often prioritized because of search engine rankings, but the other factors should not be overlooked. If you blog in a competitive niche, recognition and exposure will be critical in convincing visitors that they should pay attention to you. Getting a few links from respected blogs can help with search engine traffic, but the added credibility that you get can be just as important, especially for newer bloggers.
7. Balance Is Important
Diversity in traffic will help you to avoid losing a huge percentage of your visitors if something unforeseen happens. Search engine rankings are not permanent, especially with Google being so ready and willing to penalize blogs who they feel have violated their guidelines. If you rely too heavily on search engine traffic you could find yourself losing a big portion of your traffic at any given time.
Also, social media traffic is extremely inconsistent, so just because you have been getting decent traffic doesn’t mean it will continue. The best approach is to spread things out and focus on growing traffic from several sources rather than just one. That way you will always be safe and you won’t depend on a particular source for your livelihood.
8. Smaller Sources of Traffic Shouldn’t Necessarily Be Ignored
Not all sources of traffic will send thousands of visitors, but that doesn’t mean that they are not valuable. For example, participating in forums is likely to drive some traffic to your blog, but not tons. However, those visitors can be very valuable because they have met you or learned from you through the forum and they’ll be more likely to subscribe and become a loyal reader.
Likewise, leaving comments on other blogs will bring some traffic, but it is rare that any one comment will bring a lot of visitors. Still, this traffic is valuable because many times they have clicked through due to something that you said catching their attention.
Don’t simply assume that traffic is measured only in terms of numbers. Smaller sources of traffic have been instrumental in building many successful blogs.
9. Networking Is Critical
All successful bloggers are surrounded by a strong network of other successful bloggers. This is something that I didn’t really think much about before I started blogging, but I quickly came to realize the importance of networking.
A strong network will provide you with friends and colleagues that can be a help when you need some advice, they can provide links to your blog, they can give you social media votes, they can be an inspiration and encouragement to you, and they can even wind up being your partners in future projects. Being a strong networker is all about being willing to help others and being proactive in meeting others.
10. Blog Traffic Can Be Bought for Relatively Little Money
If you are interested in getting some extra promotion or growing your blog quickly, there are a number of affordable advertising options that will drive real traffic to your blog. Pay Per Click ads can be very effective and inexpensive (depending on what words and phrases you bid on). StumbleUpon advertising is another option. You can purchase their traffic for just $0.05 per visitor. Even banner advertisements on other blogs can be relatively cheap. Running an ad for a month or more will give you exposure to a new audience and if you were to calculate a cost-per-click it is usually pretty low.
Best wishes,

Wounded CRICKET of Austrlia

Australia are looking for improved performances from their batting and bowling leaders in the third test starting on Wednesday, the tourists needing to rebound quickly to avoid a first series defeat since 2005.
Struggling opener Matthew Hayden has vowed a more aggressive approach to shed his poor form while paceman Brett Lee has been working hard since both men flopped when India cruised to a record 320-run victory in last week's second test in Mohali.
Trailing 1-0 in the four-match series, the world's top ranked team need to win at least one of the remaining two tests to keep alive an unbeaten run that dates back to the Ashes series loss to England more than three years ago.
However, Australia's shortcomings were crudely exposed by the swing bowling of Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma in Mohali, and the tourists will also have to contend with fit-again skipper Anil Kumble after he sat out that test due to a shoulder injury.
Leg spinner Kumble, the third most successful bowler in test history with 616 victims, has taken 55 wickets in six games at the Ferozshah Kotla ground, long regarded as India's favourite venue.
His impressive haul includes all 10 second innings wickets to bowl India to a series-levelling win over Pakistan in 1999, only the second time one player has bowled out the entire side in test cricket.
The 38-year-old has taken at least seven wickets in each of his Delhi tests, bowling India to victory each time.
Australian vice-captain Michael Clarke said his team were unconcerned by India's formidable record at a venue where they have won the last seven test matches dating back to 1993. I believe all the guys in the squad are in fantastic shape," he told reporters on Monday. "We are 1-0 down, we have to win, play good cricket.
"We've taken the positives out of the last two tests. We're concentrating hard on this test, not looking too far ahead."
SELECTION DILEMMA
Kumble's return has thrown up a selection headache after his replacement Amit Mishra grabbed seven wickets to spin his side to victory on his test debut in Mohali.
If India do retain Mishra in a rare five-man bowling attack, they may have to take a tough decision of dropping one of the experienced batsmen.
Their all-round showing in Mohali came after centuries by Saurav Ganguly and fellow left-hander Gautam Gambhir with stand-in skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni hammering fifties.
Australia, meanwhile, helped fuel speculation that they are a team in decline by their flat performance over all five days.
Their biggest worry has been their batsmen's inability to combat swing while their own bowlers have failed to move the ball in the air. The team's inexperienced spin bowlers have also struggled to make an impression on the dry Indian pitches Hayden, who has made just 42 runs in his four innings so far, has promised to counter-attack left-arm Zaheer, who has dismissed him three times in the series.
Former skipper Steve Waugh visited the nets on Monday and urged senior players to lead the fightback.
"They are all quality players," he said. "If they get a couple of things right and seniors like (skipper) Ricky Ponting, Lee, (Mike) Hussey and even Hayden take responsibility they should be fine."
The fourth and final test starts in Nagpur on Nov. 6.

Some essentials to do during the last 90 days to CAT

Some essentials to do during the last 90 days to CAT
Hi With just about 90 days left for CAT here are some things any serious cat aspirant should follow religiously. First things first. You have less than 15 days to send your completed CAT application forms to the IIMs. So do it as soon as possible. Do not wait for the eleventh hour to send your application and pray that the courier delivers it on time. If you still have not got your application, you have about four days left to get it from one of the IIMs. So do it now! Here are some of the things that worked for me as I prepared for CAT and things have worked for many others to whom I have had the opportunity to assist in their CAT preparation. 1. Have a clear strategy before your Mock CATs - fine tune it - and use it on November 21st. Most wars are won not on the power of the ammunition and armor a country possesses but on the power of its think tank. The same is true when it comes to CAT. Before you take any CAT comprehensive test put down on paper the strategy that you want to adopt for that test. Though the last few CATs did not have any section wise time limit, it would be to your advantage to set those limits yourself. Typically, students spend about 30 minutes in the verbal section, 40 minutes in the DI section and 50 minutes in the Quant section. This split could vary from individual to individual. Having set this limit, shave off 5 minutes from each of the sections and keep those 5 minute blocks as reserve. After the first 105 minutes of the test, take a quick call on your performance. If you realize that you have done equally well in all three sections, spend the last 15 minutes in the section that is likely to give you the maximum returns. On the contrary, if you realize that you have not done particularly well in a section, spend the last 15 minutes in this section. This way you never run short of time for any section. Also this strategy helps you to maximize your returns within the given time frame. Essentially, do not ever start the test without assigning time limits for the different sections of the test. Will continue with more tips in subsequent blogs.... Best wishes

CAT Tips

Skipping tough questions is the key to success
… Do not get unduly concerned if you seem to skipping questions. In the first go attempt only those questions that are really really easy (that will take around a minute or less to answer). Though this is generally true across all three sections, it gains greater importance in the quant section. As you go through each question if you encounter a question that you do not know or happens to be difficult, put an X mark next to it, skip it and forget it. If you find a question that you know, but will take 2 or more minutes, put an A next to it, skip it and proceed. Attempt in the 1st round only those that will take about a minute. After exhausting all these easy questions, if you still have time come back for the questions that you have marked an A. This way, your selection of questions follows the rule of attempting the easiest ones first and then the tougher ones. Putting X and A marks next to the question eliminates the necessity to re select questions when you revisit the section. On an average, students who crack CAT need to get about 50% or lesser of the number of questions in the quant and DI section as their net score. That essentially translates to skipping every other question, provided you can maintain very high levels of accuracy. So, go ahead and skip questions that are difficult. It will be more detrimental to get stuck in a question and spending a lot of time on it than skipping a question that is easy by mistake.

Striking a right balance - Accuracy vs Speed in CAT

Striking a right balance - Accuracy vs Speed in CAT
Hi The usual dilemma that one faces while preparing for CAT takes the form of a trade off between accuracy and speed. Honestly, one need not trade off one for the other. In fact, to use a combinatorial term, these two are not mutually exclusive events. However, I will not definitely conclude these two events to be independent ones. Accuracy is important. But you are not launching a space ship. Essentially this means that you should not hesitate to approximate whenever needed and proceed. For instance, if you realize that you have to find the amount of time taken by two pipes A and B to fill a tank. If these two pipes individually take 20 and 30 minutes respectively, do not spend time trying to solve the problem as 1/20 + 1/30 and then find the LCM and then the answer. If a pipe takes 20 minutes to fill a tank, it fills 5% in a minute. Similarly, another pipe takes 30 minutes to fill a tank, it fills 3.33% in a minute. So, together they fill over 8% a minute. This means they will take about 12 minutes to fill the tank. This kind of approximation and switching between % and fractions will help you gain time. Similarly, one important thing that you need to keep in mind is that as you proceed with each step of solving a question, take a quick glance at the answer choices. This way, in may instances, you will find that you do not have to go to the last step and find the answer. Even if it is only one or two steps saved for each problem, that will give you enough time to crack another 3 or 4 more problems in CAT. That is a huuuuge difference when it comes to getting calls from the IIMs.

Jagan
